Quote #1: Chapter 7, Page 75, paimportance of this quote is that it tells you that ragraph 5
" You Fool! They'll kill you!"
The importance of this quote is that it tells you that Achak, and his village are unsafe. I will answer the question, or at least half answer it, why did the main character come to America. Well it was probably the government, who were very aggressive and violent. It made Sudan very unsafe. Another reason that sudan was unsafe is because of the Baggarra and Arabs, which attacked Achaks village.
It is very hard to connect to this quote, so I will not. I will talk about Achak. First off he has been through a lot, whether he saw lions eat people, wars happen in front of his eyes, and having to leave his family behind. I think that he is my favorite character because he is so brave, and kind.
Here is my question: Would you have left your village, leaving your parents behind, or gone with Deng.
Quote #2: chapter 9, page 91, paragraph 8
"Will you promise to barely breath?"
Okay For this quote I am changing one of the questions a little bit. What are some challenges that the main character had in his home country. Well as you know he witnessed a war. He saw people he knew die, and watched his village burn to the ground. Even though this happened when he was young it was probably the most challenging part of his life. The reason his mom said that was because he was hiding and she wanted to keep him hidden. He agreed and eventually survived the war and left.
A personal connection is pretty funny actually. Once I was playing a game called sardines,(It is a bit like hide and seek, but only one person hides and everyone else has to find them). Anyway I was hiding and I told myself exactly that. Barely breath. I did so and no one found me for two hours, until I went up for something to eat.
Question: Would you have split up with your mother and hid in a wall like Achak or would you have went with her?
