Chapter 1 - The Sound of the Shell

The island is so big, with beaches forrests and mountains. I know this best, or at least one of the best because I was chosen by Ralph to explore the island with him. The only thing that scares me is looking back at the big scar of were the plane had crash landed into the sand. That's how we got here, ithink, that's what some of the boys, have been saying at least, that we were shot down by the Germans. I'm Simon, and I am in the choir, I am one of the oldest boys on the island. Some of the other boys are ralph who was voted leader, who is very fair, and responsable. Also there's jack, who seems okay but is a little crazy, and there's something about him that i don't like. There are no adults on the island because we were sent out of England because of World War 2. Our parents stayed behind. When Ralph held the conch he had power, kids, including me didn't know what it was really, but man did we think it was cool. The choir's job is to hunt, which is what i'll be doing. As for the boys in the choir, I like them, all but Jack, our leader who is bossy and mean. When we had the vote for leader I wanted Ralph, he would have done a better job. But jack would have been mad so i voted for him.
