Lord of the Flies post 8

Lord of the Flies
Chapter 8 - A gift from darkness

The scene I chose was the one where Jack and the hunters had caught a pig and killed it.There where many scary things about it, especially how bloody and gory the description was. First off they killed it, sad but something people have to do to stay alive. But they paunched the pig which is not very nice. Like the native Americans, they had to do it to stay alive. Second they slit it's throat, Definitely not necessary, in fact it's the opposite of necessary it's plain evil. It probably wasn't even dead yet, eventually you have to do it but maybe after you cook it. Third, and worse, they stuck its head to a stick. When William Golding described this part I got a little bit tow. They first put the stick into a crack in a rock and then pushed the stick through the head. Malevolently, Jack kept pushing untill the stick came through the pigs head. Simon was watching the whole thing and then later had a vision where the pig talked to him. He was even there after they put the pigs head on the stick, when they acted it out, and thought that it was funny. They were really being demoniac and cruel. Simon wouldn't be involved, he diffidently stayed out of their way.

Good use of vocabulary words. I agree that this part is very terrifying and bloody. There were a lot of unneeded decisions coming from Jack and his clan. Why do you think the group of boys were being so violent?
